Photographer's questions about the collaboration with the photo agency delosfoto

delosfoto is maintaining lists of photo requests which we were not able to serve. As a photographer of delosfoto, you can at anytime access to the respectively latest list online via the administration software.

Also we are pleased to give you a feedback about the sales opportunities of your photos.

Contract for photographers

The collaboration between photographers and the photo agency delosfoto is being regulated by a contract. Please require a model contract via the contact form on the website. The contract for photographers is regulating the fundamental issues:

You assign the worldwide sale and usage rights to delosfoto, in case of a corresponding agreement also exclusive.
You are not permitted to leave identical or similar motifs like the ones committed to delosfoto to any other stock photo agencies.
The originals of the images (analogue or digital) remain your property. Images already existing in the data base and once having been published cannot be retracted.
delosfoto has no influence on the adoption of the images. Therefore, by use all images can appear modified, composed or changed in another way.
All contractual agreements between delosfoto and the photographer only affect the images you have left to delosfoto for usage.
It is possible to adept the conditions of a contract individually.

Captioning

At delosfoto, the caption of the pictures is being done by the photographers within the base data. Here you make sure yourself that your pictures can be found properly.

Information and documents

You can at any time find all important information and documents online within the administration software for photographers. Generally, the files are PDFs and can therefore be retrieved with every PC. In detail we provide the following:

Information about image descriptions

Here you can learn anything about the functioning of the software and how you can describe the images delosfoto has chosen and uploaded from your transmittal.

Part of the existing basic data and tag tables are also included.

are including questions about photo rights and technical articles.

Clearance of rights

Assuming an internet access, you can download the necessary proprietary- and model release contracts from any location of the world. These contracts have to be signed by your models and are mostly the precondition for the commercial use of an image.

With the print-out of a copyright declaration you assure delosfoto and the customers of that you are the owner of the images and that your image descriptions are correct.

List of needs

In order to being flexible and responsive to the specific interests of our customers, delosfoto is maintaining a list of needs. This list provides detailed information about the latest motifs being required by customers.

Once having logged in, registered photographers of delosfoto can access to the document under the menu "Resources". The list is constantly being updated. New entries can easily be identified by red markings.

As a matter of course, we will forward especially urgent requests to our photographers directly.

Payment

Dependent on the frequency of image sales, photographers receive a settlement report monthly or quarterly. Simultaneously to the report you receive the listed amount of images having been sold from your stock via bank transfer.

The report contains all specifications to make the settlement as transparent as possible:

the article number at the photo agency delosfoto
the image number (referential number) of the photographer
the image description of the boxes “caption”, “location” plus “state”, “federal state” and “city”
the invoice number of the customer of delosfoto
the description of the image usage
the total proceeds from the invoice of the customer
the resultant proportion of the photographer
deductions from the royalty because of promotion provided by delosfoto

Regardless of the settlement report you can at any time verify online which of your images are contained in offers, order confirmations and invoices.

Image engineering

Regrettably we are only able to accept images of high quality. In case of analogue material only diapositives are contemplable. The higher the source format, the better the sales opportunities are. We gladly accept scans of diapositives as well. These invariably have to be of the format .tif, 4000 dpi and a color depth of 16 bit. Make use of the delosfoto scanservice.

Digital cameras should own a minimum resolution of 10 megapixels and an image sensor as large as possible. The images have to be saved uncompressed and at a maximized color depth. We do not accept JPEG and images of box cameras.

Pseudonyms

On the website of delosfoto photographers can also be listed under a pseudonym. Still, for legal and fiscal reasons the identity of the photographer has to be disclosed at delosfoto.

Can I upload my images by myself?

Uploading images by photographers is possible in theory, but not intended at the moment.

After the inspection of the photos and the quality control at delosfoto the images are being imported to the data base. In doing so, the original files are being saved on the internal server and the thumbnails for the web use are being calculated. For the data back-up a DVD is being created.

Before uploading, each image is being optimized by contrast and sharpness. After the upload the assistants of delosfoto allot the images to the photographers for describing. Not till then the image description can be started.

„The plan": How it could be

Good pictures arise in our minds before being produced by the camera.

Well prepared, we focus a destination and already know before which pictures are meant to emerge. Early on, we carefully catch up on the geographical location and the associated conditions (e.g.: Where and when does the sun take position?) and accordingly make our plan.

During the romantic twilight we do not sit at dinner drinking wine but rather occupy the locality we have already chosen at noon.

As a matter of cause, we don't rush from one sight to another but remain on standby until we have wrapped up the desired photos.

If the weather proves unfavourable we concentrate on the details, but in case of the sun breaking through the clouds, we are at anytime ready for changing our position in order to reach breath-taking pictures.

We concentrate on worthwhile motifs as these - if being produced better than by the competition - are the one with the best sales opportunities.

After having left behind this basic principle of our work, we dedicate ourselves on the precise exposition of the details which cross our way at the chosen locality.
